Coaches Comments: St. Anthony's College vs Fatima College

Nigel Grovesnor of St. Anthony’s College was pleased with his team’s performance and thinks they did an excellent job against a strong Fatima unit despite the absence of six of his first team regulars, “Our team today missed some key players through suspension and injury.” Notably absent was the tricky winger Villareal who is known for terrorizing opposing defenders with his pace and skill. Villareal missed out on the day’s encounter by serving a one match suspension for a red card he received against St. Mary’s College. “I think especially the players who are playing at this level for the first time should feel proud of what they did here today. No doubt the experience they have gained from this match will only help them grow.” Grovesnor did however concede that the three points dropped today will make it very difficult for his team to move to the top of the league with Mucurapo also gaining full points in their match up against Malick.

Fatima’s coach Errol Mc Farlen was pleased that his team obtained the victory, but insists that his side still has a lot of room for improvement. “The three points are important to keep pace with Mucurapo,” noted Mc Farlen. “We are still making some crucial defensive and offensive errors, and these need to be worked on as I expect this team to be playing football of a certain standard for 90 minutes.” Mc Farlen was a bit puzzled at the referee’s decision to disallow the goal in the first half, but hopes his team continues to perform as the season moves into high gear.
