Diego Martin Senior was taught a valuable lesson about Championship football on Tuesday at the Hasley Crawford Stadium, when they were drubbed 5-0 by North Zone Champions Mucurapo Senior in the RBTT Intercol quarterfinals. Mucurapo will face QRC in the semifinals on Saturday. The league champions started off the game in total control, but had to wait until the 20th minute to get their opening goal despite having the lion’s share of possession. The first goal came from Kevon Piper who was the recipient of a beautiful defense splitting flick on pass from the talented Kevin Molino. Piper’s well placed finish gave Andrew Waldron absolutely no chance in the Diego Martin goal.

‘Green Machine’ wins comfortably

St. Augustine had no problems disposing of Malabar on Friday by an impressive 3-0 score-line at St. Augustine grounds. Daniel Joseph continued his great run of goal-scoring form and easily beat Malabar keeper Zwade James to give his team a 9th minute lead.

St. Augustine crush Toco

St. Augustine pulled off another huge victory on Wednesday when they hosted Toco Composite blasting 10 unanswered goals past the newcomers in a one sided 10-0 victory. St. Augustine apparently was out to prove themselves after their disappointing draw with Hillview on Saturday

Roxborough crushed by Scarborough

Roxborough crashed to an 18 – nil defeat on Tuesday in front of their own fans when they hosted Scarborough Secondary. Jeremy Williams opened the scoring in the 8th minute and also added two more in the closing stages of the game. Andell Murray scored four while Jerron Quashie added a further three. Norell Osmond, Christopher Crosby and Roland Fedro scored two goals each and the rest of the goals came from Jevaugn Arnol and Acqin Raymond.

‘The Tigers’ went down on 2-1 to Fatima College in a hard fought game at the St. Anthony College Grounds. This result means that Fatima overtakes St. Anthony’s and moves into second spot in the North Zone group, while ‘the Tigers’ slip into fourth place.

Nigel Grovesnor of St. Anthony’s College was pleased with his team’s performance and thinks they did an excellent job against a strong Fatima unit despite the absence of six of his first team regulars, “Our team today missed some key players through suspension and injury.”

Naps move to top of group

Naparima college got their third straight victory on Saturday as they defeated St. Benedicts at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium by the slender margin of 1 goal to nil. A second half header from Nigel Wright in the 56th minute gave his team the victory from a beautiful right sided cross from Anthony Parris.

QRC dismal start to season continues.

QRC went down 3-1 on Saturday to Mucurapo Senior Comprehensive at QRC grounds. The defending North Zone champions extended their winning streak to three games and remain on top of the North Zone League table. Keron Dove opened the scoring for Mucurapo in the first half, and QRC soon got the equalizer through their in form striker Jerrel Britto. The teams went into the break tied at one a piece. After the interval, Mucurapo restored their lead through a Ricardo Peltier goal, and then a freakish mistake from young QRC goalkeeper, Yannick Duchausee gave Mucurapo their third goal which put the issue beyond doubt.

Mason Hall claim victory

Mason Hall rebounded from their heavy defeat at the hands of Scarborough earlier in the week, to run out 4-0 winners over Roxborough at the Dwight Yorke Stadium on Saturday. Roxborough’s dismal form continues as they are yet to register a win for the 2006 season.

El Do notch victory on road

El Dorado traveled to Toco Composite on Saturday and obtained a 2-0 victory over the newly promoted team. El Dorado got goals in each half from Jamaal Gay and Akil Payne to seal all three points as they look to move up the league standings
