Malick Senior Comprehensive kicked off their Secondary School’s Football League today at St. Anthony’s College and managed a victory on the road much to the dismay of St. Anthony fans. A second half goal by Keron Ross was enough to give his team all three points.

Defending Intercol Champions, Fatima College handed Trinity College their first defeat of the 2006 SSFL yesterday as they ran out 3-1 winners at Fatima Grounds. Fatima could have easily won by a greater margin, but they were guilty of wasting countless scoring opportunities. Fatima dominated the first half for large spells, and should have opened the scoring as early as the 8th minute, but Chad De Freitas put his shot wide of the mark.

A first half goal from Robert Als and a second half strike from Derwin Lee in the 54th minute ensured Presentation would get all three points and maintain their position on top of the South Zone League table.

Toco Composite were off to a flying start to their secondary schools football campaign after trouncing Arima Senior Comprehensive by four goals to nil, at the Anglais Road Recreation Ground. It was an evening Arima would love to forget as Toco captain, Shirvon Charles put his newly promoted team in front with only 14 minutes on the clock.

Bishop’s High off to flying start
Tobago Zone action teed off yesterday with Bishop’s High School easily seeing off opponents Roxborough Composite by 3-1. Goals from Melvern Isaac, Kyle Salandy and Darren Alfred for Bishop’s were enough for the victory. Roxborough did reply through Akeilon Murphy but it wasn’t enough as Bishop’s storm to the top of the Tobago Zone group.

Fatima fought back bravely from two goals down to draw level, but a spectacular free kick by Kern St. Louis of Mucurapo turned out to be the difference between the two teams.

Last season’s zone winners showed all their class by controlling the game from beginning to end and getting the much deserved victory to get their 2006 campaign off to the right start
