Hillview College vs Trinity College East

Hillview College narrowly escaped relegation in 2007. This season presents them with a golden opportunity to get those all important first points when they face newly promoted Trinity College East.

A victory will not only be Hillview College’s first win of 2008, but 2007 as well as they only managed two draws in their ten league matches.

For newcomers Trinity College East, this is a dream opening Championship Division fixture. In principle, this match could very well signal whether the newly promoted team is worthy of Championship football.

Arima Senior Comprehensive vs St. Augustine Senior Comprehensive

2007 second placed St. Augustine Senior Comprehensive visit 2007 third placed Arima Senior at the Larry Gomes Stadium.

The teams’ finishing positions in the 2007 East Zone league are deceptive, as there was a gulf in quality which becomes more evident when you look at the points spread.

The head to head meeting between the two teams in 2007 saw St. Augustine edged Arima 1-0 at home and then comprehensively beat them 3-0 in the return leg.

Toco Composite vs San Juan Secondary

East Zone champs San Juan Secondary travel to Toco for their opening fixture in the East Zone of the Secondary Schools Football League.  Although opening day games tend to be tricky fixtures for the bigger teams, the defending East Zone League and Big 5 Champions are expected to still come away with full points.

How San Juan performs without their talisman Elijah Manners is left to be seen, but Coach Keith Jeffery would have been aware of this reality long enough to have planned football life without him (Manners).

In the 2007 season meetings between the two teams, San Juan drubbed Toco 4-1 and 5-1 in their two meetings. It would definitely be an upset if the Big 5 champs were to taste defeat at the hands of Toco Composite.
