Signal Hill win 3-1, claim title, but for how long?
Signal Hill came from behind today to claim a 3-1 victory over Scarborough and captured the Tobago Zone Intercol Title, but Scarborough will be contesting the result on the grounds of a Signal Hill player's ineligibility.
It is reported that a formal appeal will be handed to the SSFL tomorrow by Scarborough.
If approved, the 2008 RBTT Tobago Zone Intercol title will be handed to Scarborough.
All attention will shift to the SSFL committee to decide on the validity of the appeal.
On the field of play, Kursyl Vincent scored an early penalty for Scarborough to give them the lead, but Signal Hill drew level through Anderson Taylor in the 17th minute.
Simon Anton then pulled the Signal Hill ahead six minutes later, and the game headed into the interval with Signal Hill leading by 2-1.
Five minutes after the break Taylor sealed the result when he scored his second of the match.
Congratulations to Signal Hill for the victory and taking the Tobago Zone Intercol title in the process despite the cloud of doubt overhanging the result.
